4. Fitment & Installation Details
The application for this part is the oil pan located at the very bottom of the engine crankcase. Mechanically, this gasket sits between the bottom of the crankcase and the oil pan, creating a seal that must withstand the constant oil pressure and thermal cycling of the engine. When installing, it is vital to clean the mating surfaces thoroughly, removing all remnants of the old, hardened gasket material to ensure the new one seats perfectly. Because these older engines are prone to oil misting, ensure that all mounting bolts are tightened in a proper, uniform pattern to avoid warping the oil pan flange. Do not use high-strength liquid adhesives, as they can make future removal difficult and may interfere with the gasket’s ability to compress evenly. If the pan has been damaged by road debris, check for flatness against a straight edge before installing the new gasket to ensure a long-lasting, drip-free seal.
