4. Fitment & Installation Details
The application for this part is the cylinder base, which is the mating surface between the crankcase and the cylinder. Mechanically, this gasket is responsible for sealing the engine's internal oil passages and the cylinder's oil drain returns. Because this is an air-cooled engine, the expansion and contraction of the aluminum block are significant. Before installing, ensure that the mating surfaces on both the crankcase and the cylinder are absolutely clean and free of old gasket residue. When installing this gasket, it should be placed completely dry. Avoid using RTV silicone or gasket sealers, as these can easily migrate into the oil return passages and cause a partial blockage, which leads to overheating or oil starvation in the cylinder head. Always check that the two alignment dowels are present and undamaged, as these keep the gasket perfectly centered during the cylinder installation.
