Product Description
This genuine Yamaha factory-original starter plunger (commonly referred to as the choke knob or cold-start valve assembly) is an essential component for Keihin FCR carburetors on early-generation high-performance four-stroke dirt bikes. When pulled, this spring-loaded plunger opens a dedicated fuel bypass circuit inside the carburetor to enrich the air-fuel mixture for smooth, immediate starting when the engine is cold. Precision-machined to ensure a perfect airtight seal when pushed back in, preventing rich-running issues and erratic idling.

Note: This plunger configuration is highly specific to the original 39mm Keihin FCR carburetors equipped on the groundbreaking 1998–1999 400cc four-stroke platforms.
Fitment Details
This is a brand-new, direct replacement. To install, unthread the plastic retaining nut on the side of the carburetor body and slide the old assembly out. Ensure the internal starter passage is thoroughly cleaned of any gum, varnish, or grit before sliding the new plunger, needle, and spring in. Be very careful when threading the plastic starter nut back into the carburetor body; hand-thread it first to prevent cross-threading, then snug it gently as over-tightening can easily crack the plastic guide hex.
